Welcome to many of you for the first time!
School should always be fun and exciting - presenting many challenges. Through a combination of locally raised funds, government grants and volunteer assistance, Baxter Primary School has consistently maintained and improved the facilities available for our children. Whether you look in the sports areas, classrooms, library, gym, computer areas, art room or garden beds you will see the results of hard work and School Council planning.
The result is that our children are getting the best technological and physical facilities while also enjoying our semi-rural atmosphere. A strong academic program is balanced with high parental involvement, clubs, sports, the Arts, a buddy system and a range of student welfare initiatives.
We have successfully implemented Early Years Literacy and Numeracy, and we are currently upgrading to the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) Our results have been excellent and our academic achievements have been acknowledged by DE&T. Baxter PS is fully accredited as a Performance & Development Culture School, which makes it one of the first on the Mornington Peninsula. We have recently incorporated Values Education (Creative Arts Therapy), and the Bridges Learning Program, to further enhance our support for all students.
Our priorities are English and Mathematics with a strong interest being maintained in Information Technology, Sport and the Arts. Other major curriculum focal points are our Book Week/Literacy Celebrations, Asian Cultural Day, International Exchange Teachers, Outdoor Education and Performing Arts Experiences.
The staff are committed to teaching children the basics - the building blocks of language, mathematics, etc. and ways to access information, utilising knowledge in both practical and creative ways. We believe that our children have access to a fantastic range of resources at Baxter Primary School not the least of which is our talented and caring staff.
Children and parents have stimulating and enjoyable learning opportunities using the very latest in technology.
